Time to get lost.
What am I looking for when I go out to create my images? Whatever it is, I am happy to allow myself to be lost, if only for a little while. To absorb the sounds, the sights, the smells. I want to submerge myself into my surroundings and get lost in a world of my imaginings. I am looking to disconnect. I am looking to break free from the mindset and perspective of my daily routine. I wander, happily in the woods, on the beach, over the hills and mountains, across the streams, just being lost in whatever thought enters my mind. Letting my mood, my surroundings, and my meandering thoughts influence my images.
I find, in this time, being lost in my thoughts, free from distractions, that I can lower my walls. To breathe, relax, and allow myself to give in to the things around me that are asking to be photographed. For me, it is almost always the little things. Maybe it is the simplicity of my thoughts, or the retreat from life’s big problems, that draws me into the smaller, intimate scenes. The creation of more miniature worlds within the bigger world. A secret trail to another world in a fallen leaf. Or a map of a hidden island in the bark of a tree, where I am free to be lost for as long as I would like.
What am I looking for when I go out to create my images? I am looking for time to get lost.
