Right Now is Good

“Right now is good, and that’s all that matters”. This is a quote at the end of chapter 35 in Guy Tals book, “Another Day Not Wasted.” I really like this quote. It serves two purposes for me. One is a bit of a mantra to carry through the day. A reminder that things are never as bad as they may seem. That my frustrations and my annoyances are just that, annoyances. In the grand scheme of life, I have nothing worthy of complaint. I need to remind myself of this and to be grateful for it. The likelihood of my frustration being self-inflicted is very high. If I were to simply take a breath and pause, for just a brief moment, I would realize that  “right now is good, and that is all that matters.”

The second purpose quote serves me is as a reminder to live in the moment. Especially when I have the opportunity to be out creating my images. It is in these moments that I am truly appreciative of my opportunities. This is my time to express myself, to create my work, to experience a new location, and to try to create something that communicates my feelings in the moment. It is this time, this moment that is special. It is in these moments when I am immersed in my own world and captivated by the subject in front of me that I remind myself, “right now is good, and that is all that matters.”
